I need GOOD drugs!

I am soooo tired. I don't think I have been this tired since I was a new mom. (And that was quite some time ago.) I'm averaging about 2-4 hours of sleep per night, not nearly enough. I just heard about a new liquid, non-habit forming sleep aid made by NyQuil or Unisom or someone....who the hell knows (or cares??). Gonna give it a try and will let y'all know. Going to buy a new pillow too, for my huge cranium. Orange on a toothpick. Ok, I'm rambling. Bye bye for now.

Book of the Month

Jody Picoult's "House Rules." This woman just can't write a boring book! Excellent as usual.

I'm Back : )

Yes, I'm a flake and a liar! Geez, where does the time go? At my age it goes way too fast. My absence was actually due to the fact that I was sleeping pretty well for some time, that is until about a week ago. I'm again waking around 3ish and the exhaustion is setting in, and the headaches. I am not taking anything to help me sleep at this point. Unisom has run it's course as has any prescribed drugs that I tried a while back. Don't really care for the 'zombie state' of the ones that will work, nor do I like the idea of eating in the middle of the night and not even remembering what I consumed. And then there's forgetful-driving. Do people drive to get fast-food??? Hummm, something to ponder. (I'm talking about Ambien of course.)

I wonder if people drive to get fast-food, in their pajamas, while dreaming of flying (or swimming) and no one notices the weirdness, and in the morning they wake, oblivious to their night-owl behavior.

Only true followers of this blog will understand : ) all two of you! Come on people.....a little feed back would be nice.

I'm Addicted to Unisom....

I love Unisom, 2 nights in a row . After that they don't work well. Kinda like NyQuil. I like NyQuil too, 2 nights in a row. (With NyQuil it's the alcohol! : ) Nothing seems to work for long, and believe me, I think I've tried them all. The thing I like about Unisom, is that I dream really weird things and I actually remember the dream. Most times, unless I take notes when I first wake up (in the middle of the night) by morning I have no recollection of what went on in my little cranium. But when I take Unisom, I've been known to fly, which is really really fantastic! I'm also an incredible swimmer.....another rather fantastic feat for me.....I can swim, I just don't look too graceful doing it. In my dreams I also attend parties, in my PJs, and no one seems to think it's weird but me.

Good bye sweet girl

Last week, I had to say good bye to my faithful companion of almost 14 years. Valerie, my black lab, was special; way beyond the normal special. Her intelligence was almost spooky and I used to say that she was my Nani (my grandmother) reincarnated; sent to look after me. And although I'm not really sure if I believe in reincarnation, Val definitely made me wonder. Val survived cancer at 8 years of age, then plagued with bad hips and arthritis. Still that dog had the happiest face ever, she smiled. She brought me remotes, phones, magazines and even a candy bar once. So smart. She loved stuffed animals with squeakers, and never tore them up. She love food, especially french fries which she had for her last lunch.

It was a stroke, I think, that made me make the call. She kept tilting her head to one side and falling down. My Vet is a wonderful man who had been Val's doctor since she was 9 months old. He came to the house to care for her one last time. She was laid her to rest in the back yard under a cedar tree, a river rock from where she used to swim bears her name.

Dogs just want to please, offering us gifts of unconditional love and loyalty; we should all take a lesson. I think we lose a little peace of ourselves with the loss of a pet. But I feel we gain so much more by having had them in our lives.

Before bed, I turn on the light out back and walk out side. A zillion stars shine through the trees. I say good night and I wonder, as I walk away, who will come back to me next time?
